Inside Passage
16″H x 7″W x 5″D
This recent work is carved out of Andes Blue Onyx, a semi-precious stone found only above 17,000 feet in the mountains of Argentina. Bold color patterns within swirls of semi-translucent stone evoke images of the often tumultuous interplay of earth, sea and sky along the Pacific Northwest coast; yet its surface is smooth and tranquil like the protected waters along its namesake can often be. How fitting that this piece, commissioned by a good friend, art collector, and island resident of Puget Sound, will ultimately be displayed in a home overlooking the southern terminus of the Inside Passage.
